Why Aubrey Organics Natural and Organic Cosmetics

Aubrey Organics Philosophy

From the products we manufacture to the people we touch, we believe that how a company conducts its business is as important as what it sells. Ethics, values, environment, responsibility and leadership are all at the heart of Aubrey Organics. We have taken a leadership role in giving back to the earth, its people, and its culture, as we are all connected. That is only fair.

Aubrey Organics Mission

Is to provide all-natural, safe and effective personal care and lifestyle products to the consumer. We offer a true and authentic alternative to many of the mass produced synthetic products on the market today. We craft only the highest quality all-natural products without compromise as to ingredients, packaging or cost.

We believe in education and transparency. A customer is best able to make an educated and correct purchasing decision only when armed with true and valued information. Part of our core purpose is to provide that information as best as we can.

Who Is Aubrey Organics

Aubrey Hampton was born on an organic farm in rural Indiana and was educated in New York City. He learned, from the age of nine, how to make herbal cosmetics from his mother. A phytochemist and herbalist, he founded Aubrey Organics in 1967 with two natural products he formulated in his own kitchen—Relax-R-Bath and GPB Hair Conditioner. Since then he has created over 200 hair, skin and body care products, which are internationally recognized as the most natural herbal products available. Nearly every health food store in the United States and Canada carries his products, which are also sold throughout Europe, Asia and South America.
Aubrey’s list of “firsts” in the industry is impressive. He was first to use coconut fatty acids in hair and skin care; first to formulate cosmetic products with jojoba oil, evening primrose, blue camomile, Rosa Mosqueta® and Matcha green tea; first to develop a natural preservative with citrus seed extract and vitamins A, C and E; and the first cosmetic manufacturer to be certified as an organic processor (in 1994).

Even as the head of Aubrey Organics—a multi-million-dollar, multi-national company—Aubrey still personally creates every formula, and carefully oversees the manufacturing of each product that bears his name.

A dedicated animal rights activist, he is strongly committed to operating a cruelty-free company. This commitment led to his being named “Activist of the Year” in 1990 by the Culture and Animals Foundation.

He is the author of many best-selling health and beauty books, including Natural Organic Hair and Skin Care (now in its sixth printing), What’s in Your Cosmetics, and The Take Charge Beauty Book (co-authored with his wife, Susan Hussey). An award-winning playwright, he has published two books of plays, GBS & Company and Wolf Trilogy, and is co-founder of the Gorilla Theatre, in Tampa. He is the publisher of Organica, an arts and environmental publication with 70,000 readers nationwide.

Aubrey divides his time between homes in New York City, where Aubrey Organics first originated, and Tampa, Florida, where the Aubrey Organics manufacturing plant is now located.

What Do Aubrey Organics Do

Aubrey Organics believe great ingredients make great products. This is the simple philosophy at the heart of the pioneering personal care company Aubrey Hampton founded over 40 years ago. Since the very beginning, the high standards set have not changed. Aubrey Organics use only the finest herbal, plant extracts and natural vitamins in all of our products. You will find no paraben preservatives, no petrochemicals, no artificial colors or fragrances of any kind. Today Aubrey Organics remains committed to making healthy, natural products based on herbal traditions that, in many cases, date back thousands of years. Aubrey Organics believe that everything we know about hair and skin care we learned from nature first.

How Do Aubrey Organics Do It

Each and every product is personally formulated by Aubrey himself. All products are creatively designed to work in harmony with nature. This fine balance of performance and nature is truly an art… and a little science.

Next comes the sourcing of ingredients. Aubrey Organics will accept only the highest quality and purest of ingredients from around the world. Each ingredient is tested to ensure it meets our high standards for purity and efficacy.

Aubrey Organics then mix the products the old-fashioned way, by hand (as you might in your kitchen). Every product is handcrafted in small batches of 50 gallons or less for greater quality control. And there is always a watchful set of eyes during the manufacturing phase.

Aubrey Organics products never sit around on warehouse shelves — they are shipped straight from our manufacturing plant to you. This ensures freshness when they arrive at your door.

Aubrey Organics Commitment

Aubrey Organics commitment to people is profound. Aurbey Organics believe that we are truly citizens of the world and accept the responsibilities that accompany that. Aubrey Organics work with farm communities, suppliers and businesses from around the world. It might be by sponsoring organic agriculture in Honduras, overseeing the development of herbs in Japan, or explaining the importance of organic farming techniques in Ghana.

At the same time we understand and believe that charity begins at home. We are greatly tied into our local community. It all starts with our employees. We believe in fair pay, safe working conditions, and use an ethical approach when handling all issues. All our employees are important, have a voice, and are listened to. The smallest of suggestions could lead to the largest discoveries.

We support many charities, whether it is an AIDS hostel in Vancouver, Canada, or a homeless shelter in downtown Tampa. We do not discriminate. We are actively engaged in and support the performing arts and encourage participation.

We believe the best accomplishment of a successful organisation is to make the world a little better, cleaner and brighter for tomorrow’s people.
